The science fiction horror film Alien: Romulus was released in the US in 2024. The screenplay was co-written by Rodo Sayagues and Fede Álvarez. Produced by Scott Free Productions and Brandywine Productions, it is the ninth movie in the Alien franchise and takes place in between the events of Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986). David Jonsson, Spike Fearn, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, and Aileen Wu co-star with Cailee Spaeny in the film. It revolves around a group of young, downtrodden space colonists who are trying to find a better life for themselves. As they explore a deserted space station, they encounter hostile aliens

Investigating the USCSS Nostromo debris, a Weyland-Yutani space probe finds an organic object that contains a xenomorph. At the colony Jackson’s Star, Rain Carradine, an orphan, works with her adopted brother Andy, a synthetic human who has undergone reprogramming. Her ex-boyfriend Tyler convinces her to join an expedition to a deserted spacecraft in order to acquire cryostasis chambers after Weyland-Yutani forcibly extends her contract.

Rain, Tyler, his expectant sister Kay, cousin Bjorn, and Bjorn’s girlfriend Navarro will be able to flee to the planet Yvaga thanks to these chambers. The task depends on Andy’s ability to communicate with the onboard computer system. Andy is reluctant to go with Rain, but Tyler and Andy persuade him to let him help. In homage to the Roman myth of Romulus and Remus, they sail the freighter Corbelan to the spacecraft, which turns out to be the Renaissance, a Weyland-Yutani research station split into two sections. Tyler, Bjorn, and Andy unintentionally bring back frozen facehuggers and start a lockdown while removing stasis chambers.  Alien Romulus is in theaters now.
