On a serene late spring evening, Altadena was filled with optimism as residents came together for a Pre-ESPY Charity Celebration to support the families impacted by the Eaton Fire that tore through the foothills earlier this year. Residents, local authorities, volunteers, and a list of athletes and stars came together to support individuals who lost homes, mementos, and means of subsistence at the event, which was hosted in Hollywood, California, just a short drive from the remains of the former Eaton community.

In an attempt to use the national sports community’s prominence to hasten rescue efforts, the celebration’s organizers presented it as a prelude to the ESPY Awards season. The generosity of attendees and online donors was amplified by the appearances of several athletes with ties to the area, including prominent local alumni and national celebrities with connections to Southern California.

Here are some of the notables in attendances at this event. The red carpet and VIP experience welcomed a range of celebrity guests and athletes who came out to support the cause, including: Clarence Verdin – Pro Bowl NFL Player (Washington Redskins, Colts, Falcons); Elliette Jackson – Defensive Coach, Houston Texans; Marcus Lovett Jr. – International Pro Basketball Player; Jordan McCloud  – American Football Quarterback; Elizabeth Vargas – Former cast member of The Real Housewives of Orange County, and Host of Girl; Jennifer Aydin – Reality TV Personality known for starring on Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New Jersey;  Erica Rose – The Bachelor, Below Deck; Kareem Grimes – All American; Tia P. – Rhythm & Flow (Netflix); YesJulz– Influencer, Reality TV Personality Netflix’s reality series W.A.G.s to Riches; Daphnique Springs – Comedian and star of LOL Live with Daphnique Springs on Hulu; Dr. Sam Nguyen – Socialite, Philanthropist, and Entrepreneur.
