On Sunday, March 1st, the Los Angeles Athletic Club presented the 2026 Special Achievement Awards Luncheon, which was organized by the African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) to celebrate cinematic brilliance. This annual invitation-only awards ceremony recognized people for their significant achievements to the entertainment business and was a prestigious
event honoring the varied and powerful voices influencing the film industry.

Sony Pictures Classics (Karen and Stanley Kramer Social Justice Award, accepted on behalf of Sony Pictures Classics by co-presidents Michael Barker and Tom Bernard), Michelle Satter (Film Advocate Award), Nikkole Denson Randolph (Spotlight Award), Lorrie Bartlett (Salute to Excellence), and Nina Shaw (Legacy Award) are among the honorees.

AAFCA President and co-founder Gil Robertson presided over the event, while special guests and speakers included Jurnee Smollett, Ava DuVernay, Isaiah Mustafa, Charmaine DeGraté, Schelle Purcell, Debra Lee, Karen Kramer, and others.
